The CEC and the Embassy of the Federal Repubic of Germany in Albania sign a co-operation agreement.
The project enhances the security and performance of the CEC Information Technology System.
Today, the Central Election Commission and the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Albania signed a cooperation agreement for Assembly elections on June 25, 2017. The Federal Republic of Germany is supporting the Central Election Commission with technical equipment to enhance the security and performance of the CEC Information and Communication Technology System.
The Chairman of the CEC, Mr. Klement Zguri expreessed his appreciation to Ambassador Schutz for the support that the German Government is giving to the Central Election Commission for the purpose of conducting free, democratic, transparent and fair elections.
“We are only two days before the election day and the security and performance enhancement of the technology system is of particular importance to the Central Election Commission and the equipment that the CEC receives from the project with the German Embassy help precisely to enhance security and performance during the broadcast of the preliminary results, ” said the CEC Chairman, Mr. Zguri.
“The development of free and fair elections is an important test and a milestone on Albania’s path towards EU integration,” said Ambassador Schutz. “It is a pleasure for us to support the Central Election Commission with technical equipment, to guarantee the smooth continuity of the electoral process and beyond the observation of this process by the OSCE / ODIHR – a careful techinal monitoring of its voting and counting as well “, said Ambassador Schütz
Further, the CEC Chairman, Mr. Zguri and Ambassador Schütz called on all citizens with the right to vote, to exercise their right to vote and to participate in the elections. In addition, the German Federal Government closely follows the electoral process and supports the OSCE / ODIHR observation mission with 2 long-term and 32 short-term observers.
